Longing to touch and be touched in a new way? Practice these 6 steps to Mindful Touch.

  1. Notice your partner. Are they receptive to touch? If in doubt, check.

  2. Move your attention from the thoughts & fantasies in your mind to the sensations in your body, especially your hands. Become aware of temperature, pressure, pulsing etc

  3. Get curious about what happens when you make contact. Does your partner’s body soften and open, or stiffen and retract? What happens to the sensation in your own body?

  4. Go only as fast as you can stay connected to your body’s sensation and the responsiveness of your partner. You might go slower than you ever imagined - and feel more electricity in the slowness than you ever thought possible.

  5. If the sensation drops off, slow down instead of speeding up. Rather than pushing for more, align with the ebb and flow - a natural rhythm.

  6. Stop before you or your partner get full. Instead of overdoing it, leave room for wanting more. A little hunger can be a beautiful thing.
